Spending the Night at Grammie's and Quampa's

Last Saturday, Harper, Tuli and I stayed the night at Grammie and Quampa's house. Quampa was hosting a poker tournament that Tuli played in, and my Mom and I played with the baby and did some sewing.

What a treat it was for Harper to wake up to playful Grandparents at 6:30am on Sunday! And vice versa!

(and might I add...what a treat it was for Tuli and I to sleep in!!!!)

Here are the things we learned during that trip:

That Harper can climb to the top of the stairs all by himself
(with Grammie behind him at all times of course)

That Chuck makes an excellent headrest for bottle time

That if it's the career path he chooses, Harper would make an adorable cowboy

That he is the ONLY person that Quampa would give up his recliner for

And finally........

That he LOVES chocolate ice cream!
(this is much to Grammie's liking, seeing that she is a non-recovering chocoholic)

He also must be a good luck charm, because Quampa came in 2nd place out of 30 players!

Cruisin'

Harper James is an overachiever. Although he was born 4 weeks early, he seems to be determined to accomplish most things early! He is happiest when he is standing, holding a toy, and telling his toy stories. Yes, his little voice is one of the many things I love about that boy. He loves to cruise around the coffee table and see what he can get his hands on...remote controls, coasters, cell phones, silverware, cups (you get the idea...).

He has 4 upper teeth now and still just 2 on bottom. His little smile is changing so much!

His hair is getting thicker and darker, like his Daddy's. He is very mellow and likes to focus on anything that catches his eye. He makes lots of new sounds when he jabbers.

Harper's First Emerald's Game

One of our friends, Stacy, decided to celebrate her birthday by going to an Em's game. The Emeralds are Eugene's minor league baseball team. Even though they lost, we had a blast eating junk, playing with Harper, and spending a nice evening outside with good friends!

Enjoying the view from Daddy's shoulders

Our happy little family!

Passed out in the 6th inning!

Laundry Helper

Harper loves to crawl around in piles of laundry that I am trying to fold :) He got himself a little "wrapped up" in Mommy's underwear today! He seems to be pretty happy still tho :)

All Smiles

Oh, how I love Harper's smile. It's just about my favorite thing in the world to see!

Harper has been spending August 2009 cruising all over the place. I can't believe he's standing around and furniture-surfing at only 7 months. We have a little over-achiever on our hands!

Swim Lessons

On Monday, Harper and I started Baby Swim Lessons at Echo Hollow Pool. It has been SO much fun for the both of us. Yesterday, Tuli got to take a long lunch and come with us too! Also, Ashley came with and took pictures for us :)

The main idea of Baby Swim Class is to get the babies used to the water...being in it, getting their heads and faces wet, and going under water. Harper (of course) was the star student! He went under water the first day, and he still hasn't cried during class! He is one tough, determined baby! He seems to really like the water...especially if he has a pool toy to chew on :)

Bigger and Better

We moved! We are now 2 blocks away from where we used to live, and we are soooo happy with our new place. It's a duplex with a yard, garage and.....AIR CONDITIONING! The layout is much more baby-friendly, with lots of room for Harper to crawl.

Dining room (note black and white photo wall that we're having fun with)

Tiny kitchen...but then again, I never really like having other people in the kitchen
while I'm cooking!

Oh, and yes, you heard me correctly, I said CRAWL! Our little boy has 2 teeth, and is sitting and crawling all the time now. We spend a lot of our time chasing him around, but it's good exercise :)

Instead of posting all of the pictures individually, I'm creating a slideshow to show you all how the Summer of Harper has been going. It's hard to believe that a year ago, I was pregnant with him...and now we have a beautiful, perfect baby boy. He changes everyday, and we love him more everyday too.

Harper and I start swimming lessons next Monday (THANK YOU GRANDPA JIM!), and I'm so excited! He has already been swimming once in his Grandpa's pool, and he looooved it. We're hoping he'll be a little water-baby like I was when I was his age.
